I’ve been quite absent lately. There’s a lot going on in my life, and I’ve recently started doing a lot of in person tarot readings again, so my focus shifted towards that. But I couldn’t help but notice that I wasn’t the only one absent in the tarot community.

I feel like there are so many changes in the tarot community, for all sorts of reasons. We’re losing members, and gaining new ones, and yet it feels like despite this roller coaster my emotions are stale.

It’s not just the content, it feels like after 2 years of going through a lot of shared experiences, spiritual people are feeling drained. We’ve gone through a pandemic, economic instability, financial crisis, housing crisis, social crisis, and now a war, along with uncertainty about our future as a society, and we’re just trying to survive.

People have turned to us for guidance and comfort, for validation and support, and the question is… how are we supporting ourselves? Where do we find our comfort and guidance?

So my question is to our tarot community is how do you recharge? How do you deal with loss and pain, with confusion and misguided aggression?

Where do you go when your creative juices aren’t flowing?

I personally sit down and journal. I know people who sling their cards as a form of self comfort, but I listen to nature sounds and write on paper the thoughts and words I wish someone would say to me. It instantly makes me feel better, and it makes me feel less rushed.

What’s your go to content when the world is too loud?

For me personally, it has to be music. When things are too much, I don’t want to learn, I don’t want to act, I don’t want to react. I just need to sit there with my thoughts and feelings and try to understand them.

What’s your comfort setup in your holy safe space or altar?

I go to my desk – which I won’t show now because it’s not really aesthetically pleasing and it’s actually private, and I take out my journal, which has been my crutch lately, and shuffle my cards, burn some incense and do a ritual to ground myself. It makes me feel safe and at peace, and most of all, it makes me feel loved.

What’s your go to deck when nothing makes sense?

The Majestic Earth tarot deck. It has such a dream like quality to it, I can immerse myself in the images and day dream about adventures, but I can also try and picture myself in the images, and observe my reactions. It’s always a spot on reader, and I always get comfort from even the most confrontational of the cards.

What’s your go to deck when you want to challenge yourself?

The Mary-El Tarot, for sure. I’m happy to report that I now have the 1st edition, and I’m going on a journey to decipher that deck and see how it makes me react.

What’s your go to deck when all you want is validation?

White Sage Tarot. Happy to report that I also manage to get a copy of the indie edition of the White Sage, which is such a blessing. If comfort would have a picture in the dictionary, it would be this deck!

What’s the deck that taught you a lesson and how did you find the lesson?

I learned that the Art Revival Tarot only wants to read about housing issues. I was reading at several markets and events, and for some reason, I had clients that didn’t want to disclose their question. Which is fine, I can read without a question. But then when I looked back, I realised I was so drawn to using this deck only for housing issues, even when I didn’t know the question was about a housing issue. Some decks have their personality and clearly there’s nothing you can do to change it!

How do you give your decks a rest?

I tend to rotate them, but not really based on a schedule. I’ve recently found myself having to listen to the Psychic Oracle Tarot, this deck was tiiiired… and all the cards I pulled for myself or others were either very moody, or very apathetic. I cleansed the deck and reshuffled a couple of days later, and I got the world. The deck was just tired and wanted a rest, so happy I listened!

How do you give yourself a rest?

We’re all living in this maddening world. Where things happen at a very rapid pace… this summer is quite busy for me, moving, working all weekends, and most evenings too, and that’s on top of a full time job. So it’s important to allow myself a breather if that’s what I need. I’m not out as much as I would like to, but at home I do tend to bless my space more than before. Incense and sage and candles, making spell bags to help with burnout, just creating things with my mind and my hands has been great!

What’s the random thought of the day?

I wish current tarot experience wasn’t so driven by instant gratification. What do I mean by that? Because the point is not to offend anyone, but simply speak about my own experience. I have waited for a year and half for the Alleyman Tarot, and during this time I have transformed and became a new person. So while I do appreciate the effort put in this deck, I don’t think it aligns with my being anymore, and I am thinking of rehoming it. This is something I need to deal with, because usually I am very patient.

I waited a long time to get my hands on a 1st edition Mary-El, and I am very pleased with the outcome. I am opposed to rushing into things because you want the short term happiness, and instead I like to focus on the long term goals and plans. And yet, something happened with this deck and it bothers me. I wish I wasn’t that fickle and I wish I didn’t throw a tantrum, when I don’t need to.

But then I go on Facebook groups and I see people complain that their decks were 1 day late, after they ordered them through Amazon. And that’s an even bigger problem in my book! I won’t bore you with the details, but I dislike how we are so deeply dependent on a service that destroyed small businesses, delivery companies, and treats their employees unfairly. Not to say that sellers that use them aren’t better off either. And my perpetual question is – if it’s all worth it? Destroying the planet so that Janet (sorry if your name is Janet) gets her deck today instead of 2 days later?

These are my thoughts of today, probably more of a ramble than usual, but I’ve been away for a while now, and I had a lot of time to think about things

As usual, if you want to support my channel or my work, please don’t forget to go to my YouTube page to like, share, subscribe, comment, all the good things. Sending you lots of love!

In short, probably, if you like inanimate objects that take control over your life.

Tarot reading.

Otherwise, I’d highly say no to that.

But tarot, like every other thing on this earth, is a unique doorway into the intricacies of the universe, so very subjective and constrained only by your own beliefs.

It’s up to you what questions you want it to answer, and it is up to you if you decide to use it as such. No one will shame, except maybe the random strangers who are convinced that tarot is a hoax.

Maybe it is, or maybe you’re not using it right. Maybe your expectations are not a match for what it can do for you. You can’t expect to dig a hole with a fork, do you? In a similar vein, you can’t expect tarot to tell you what’s going to happen, if you don’t believe in its guidance.

I’ve inadvertently used tarot as a divination tool, but sometimes the future was hidden from me even as I was seeking it. Things are complicated and simple at the same time, and guess what.

So is tarot.

Spreads vs Free Styling – which one is better?

Every reader has a preferred method, but the reality is that every energy has a preferred method. Some will dish out a very exotic, complicated 15-card spread, and will use multiple decks in one reading. Some will just dig out their old, trusted Rider-Waite-Smith decks, and do a 3-card spread, with or without clarifiers. Some will shuffle and keep the cards that pop out, until nothing jumps out anymore. Some will place the cards face down and pick the ones that resonate.

What does that mean for you, as a reader? It means that the method is not that important. It’s not really about which one is better, spreads vs free styling. The only thing it means is that you need to trust their intuition, as it will guide them (and you) towards the best results.

Without judging other people’s methods, I like to keep myself flexible. Sometimes I research a spread, if I think it makes sense in the context, but sometimes I just go with a 3-card spread or a Celtic Cross. Sometimes I’ll just shuffle my decks until all the messages have popped out and I am ready to weave the story.

The point is – there is no right or wrong. The best thing about tarot is its flexibility and how easy it is to use it as a tool. Either method should work, if you have your querent’s interest at heart. If you listen to your guides, you’ll know what method would be better suited. Tarot is not a one size fits all, so why should you apply the same template to all questions?

We’re all our own individuals, for sure, but that doesn’t mean we are so different from one another. Tarot reading is based on archetypes. Studying common behavioural patterns is at the core of tarot reading. We are the sum of experiences, emotions and energies of our ancestors. We draw lessons from the universe and from them, fueling our emotions, minds and bodies. This enables us to act and react a certain way, even if we sometimes don’t even understand it.

I, myself, I am just beginning to accept this tarot reading journey and how it can improve my life. I probably started it many lifetimes ago, but that doesn’t mean I learned what I needed to. Resistance to change defines us all. We’re so resistant to change, that it may take us a lot of time to fully understand, accept and apply all this information. Not to say that if you’re not a spiritual being, I won’t understand your point of view. I was once like that, and I’m still waking up. But I am more open to whatever signals my gods/guardians/angels/universe/ancestors/energies are trying to tell me than before.

I don’t mean to be disrespectful; I’m trying to be inclusive all spiritualities, maybe even of the ones I’m not yet aware of.

Past – Present – Future.

How and When

I started with normal card reading and coffee reading back when I was a little girl. This was a thing I was doing with my mum while growing up. She truly believed I have a gift, and was trying to help me advance. But at the moment I was fine with just listening to my intuition, which has never failed me.

Fast forward to a lot of years later, I found myself in front of a tarot reader. My tarot reading experience was unbelievably accurate! But I was still holding on to my old ways. Change is never easy. A couple of months later, I had another epiphany which solidified my drive to learn and apply myself. I’ve been spending my time doing just that, trying to understand the ins and outs of tarot. I am also looking into tapping that never-ending source that helps me fuel this, my intuition. I truly believe that with tarot reading I managed to shed some light and, eventually, I even improved my life a bit.

What About Now?

I now use tarot reading as a guidance or as a way to clear things up for me or others. The way I use tarot is not to learn the lucky combo at the lottery tonight. I don’t use tarot to find out when someone will get married or how many children they will have. Tarot is also not a way of getting financial, legal or medical advice.

Tarot can only tell me things about yourself in the now, with prospecting the near future based on today’s patterns. But in the end, you’re still the master of your own destiny. Only you can choose if and how you want to improve your life.

What Can Tarot Do For You?

If the cards reveal an addiction in your current situation, tarot cannot cure this. The cards can only flag if the issue is threatening to spill in other areas of life. If your relationship or work are at risk, it is up to you not to let that happen.

Likewise, sometimes the tarot reveals that you have a loving relationship with your significant other. It is your choice to continue to nurture that relationship, rather than rely on the cards to keep this going.

Tarot can reveal things about yourself that you don’t want to know, hear or acknowledge. Sometimes they are positive, sometimes they are negative. It is a self-discovery tool that you can use by yourself or through others, so please use it as such. A tarot reading can improve your life, if you’re open to the message and are willing to work on yourself. Otherwise, a message remains just a message, and not an action.

Just ask the question, and Tarot will answer.
